What are the benefits of vitamin D?
Vitamin D is vital for a healthy body but it’s estimated that 1 in 5 people in the UK are vitamin D deficient. For most of us, we just can’t get the sun exposure needed to produce adequate amounts of vitamin D. Did you know that it’s impossible to get enough vitamin D from food sources? So for many of us, supplementation is key.
Adequate levels of vitamin D are necessary for the normal functioning of the immune system.
Our teeth and bones require good levels of vitamin D for optimum mineralisation and vitamin D plays a crucial role in the utilisation of calcium and phosphorus.
Vitamin D is required for normal muscle function and cell division, it is therefore important for every single cell in the body.
Why is vitamin K2 included?
Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, working synergistically with vitamin D to ensure that calcium is not only absorbed but sent to our bones where we need it the most. Vitamin K is also needed for normal cardiovascular function. There are two forms of vitamin K, K1 and K2, and it is K2 that has demonstrated more beneficial effects on our bones, compared to K1.1
Who is it suitable for?
Previously recommended just to groups deemed to be at risk, Public Health England now recommends everyone takes vitamin D supplements, especially during the autumn and winter. Vitamin K is often taken by those wanting to support the maintenance of normal bones, such as postmenopausal women. The UK government recommend that everyone over the age of 4 years take 10μg (400iu) of vitamin D daily.
Why choose our Vitamin D3 with K2?
Choosing a supplement that combines both Vitamin D3 with K2 means you are getting the benefit of two ‘partner’ ingredients working together to support bone health as well as offering other benefits such as support for the normal function of the immune system. We have used the preferred & most effective forms for Vitamin D and K2 respectively in therapeutic amounts to maximise efficacy by making it easier for the the body to absorb and utilise. The liquid form means that it’s easy to take more or less to suit invidiual requirements. It’s allergen free and has a natural orange flavour making it a pleasant, hassle free way to offer natural support for key areas of health.
Where is the vitamin D sourced from?
The vitamin D3 is derived from lanolin (sheep wool). It is therefore suitable for vegetarians but not vegans.
