Massage Therapy

Massage is respectful and intelligent touch, expertly deployed in order to help you feel better. Feeling better means different things to different people. It might mean a good night’s sleep or being able to stand without pain, or it might mean a better athletic performance.

What does it help?

  • Muscular aches and pains
  • Injury management and surgery recovery
  • Pain management
  • Increases mobility
  • Improves lymphatic and blood flow
  • Stress management, down-regulating the nervous system (or chilling out)

What is it?

Massage is the manipulation of soft tissue, using a variety of techniques in order to change and improve:

  • muscle tone
  • muscle resting length
  • muscle balance around joints
  • trigger points
  • fascial adhesions and glide
  • stretch and length
  • posture

With Massage we can also influence your nervous system by reducing sympathetic input and increasing parasympathetic responses in the body. Put more simply, we reduce the ‘fight or flight’ impulse which so many people are slightly stuck in, and we increase the ‘rest and digest’ mode of the body, which allows you to feel better physically and emotionally.

Clinical Massage is treatment with a particular aim in mind i.e. to address your specific pain or injury with deep tissue, heat, stretch, lighter touch myofascial work and a host of other techniques in order to achieve a specific outcome.

How does a session work?

You will have a consultation and conversation with the therapist, which will involve making an assessment and taking a brief medical history, and most importantly having a chat where you can share with the therapist details of what you are hoping to change. You may want to fill out the Intake Form which you are sent in advance in order to give you more treatment time.

If appropriate, some orthopaedic or muscle testing may be needed to gain more information, but a course of treatment will be recommended, and you will be able to enjoy a treatment that is designed for your needs.

How much does it cost?

An ideal treatment time is 75 minutes, although shorter times are available to suit your busy schedule.

Per 75 minute session : £60
